Many nights later…

Two days. That’s about what it took to recover from our Pre-Thanksgiving party.

It has taken me another couple of days to sit down and try to process how to sum it up but I will take a shot.

I took Thursday and Friday off work to prep. The Party was Saturday at 6pm and the house was empty by 11pm (very early compared to previous years).

Total head count is a bit dicey as there were quite a large number of people I had not met before. The confirmed count we know (because I know them and that they showed up) was 97 (53 Adults, 38 kids and 6 infants).

We had made the back yard a kid zone with a movie projector on the wall, a wii projected on the side of the house, 4 tables to eat / hang out and a bounce house. The drive way was set with the serving tables and 6 tables for the adults.

I left my 9 year old daughter in charge of photography so some of the photos and subject matter is what was important to her.

Cooking:

Paint mixer… I think not. Potato Masher in my house (yes the drill on the left is part of the plan)

Cranberries… don’t care for them a whole lot but always seems to be a hit.

Yeah, it was not enough…

Camera phone so not the best shot but it was fun seeing the kids work together in the kitchen. Ry is trimming the figs and Sarah is stuffing them with the smoked Gouda. Ry later wrapped them in the prosciutto.

Some of the Family and Friends (lots of kid shots because… well a kid had the camera):

Front sitting area (blurry but best shot we got of the lights and tables):

It was a fun event. Great to see a lot of people having a good time. Both my wife and I were a little disappointed that we did not get to spend much time with everyone. There was also quite a bit of reflection afterwards about what we wanted and got out of this event. I suspect it will have a strong effect on but this event and future events but I will write more about that later.

  1. What a great thing to do for your friends. It sounds like a fun time. I would be a nervous wreck to host that many people, but it sounds like you pulled it off!

  2. I totally missed this post on my last read, it is great.
