Christmas food

Ok so I did not cook at all this year. I was completely burnt out after Thanksgiving. So no cookies or cakes this year. But at least that does not mean there was no left overs or treats. It almost seemed like this year there was more.

Left overs from Christmas lunch provided by my awesome mother in law. Shrimp egg rolls. Wine was a gift from a friend.

Then there was tonight’s dinner. I have no idea where it is from (I will have to ask in the morning). Pork with sauerkraut and dumplings. This came from a co-worker that had talked about it for the last month or so. He reflected how the left overs were actually better then the meal.

He brought it to work today and gave me the preparation instructions:

Heat pan with a little butter. Slice dumplings and fry on one side (his wife was nice enough to even pre-slice)

Flip and fry the other side

Remove from pan and toss in the pork and kraut

Here is the finished plate

Now I was coached there was a correct way to eat and that was to get some of all three on the fork at the same time.

This was really good. I mean, REALLY good. I did learn that there was an order that needed to be followed

Kraut, dumplings then pork. Otherwise it just does not seem to work.

I guess in the end it is probably the same - Awesome.

Dessert you wonder. Probably not but I will go on! Now I don’t know what these are called but I am guessing it is Japanese for Really Tasty Ginger Cookie

So in the end not bad for not cooking. I am sure I will make up for it throughout the year to come.
