My kids are probably too young for me to be worrying about driving (10 and 6), but I remember how I was when I was an early driver.
This thought started from a conversation I had with my coworker on the way back from a trade event. He was reflecting on how his son had struggled learning to be a good driver. He had been a passenger for so long (looking out the window watching the scenery) he had to build up the mental skills needed to be a driver.
It made me think of what it was going to be like trying to teach my hard headed daughter how to drive.

I think it will be a fun game to let my kids “drive” by telling me what to do. Can they process what is going on and pay attention to their environment well enough to direct me on the correct reaction? Will this result in them being more aware of their surroundings or will it just be an opportunity for my kids to try to convince me to crash the car?
Perhaps I will wait until they can sit in the front seat.
